According to legend, Cloud Gate is the name of the oldest known dance in China, a ritual dance from 5,000 years ago. In 1973, choreographer Lin Hwai-min adapted this classical name for the first contemporary dance company in any Chinese-speaking community: Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan. Since that time, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan has become one of the world’s greatest dance companies.
This production, Songs of the Wanderers has been received with rapturous applause, standing ovations and astonishing superlatives by both audiences and the press from all over the world. Accompanied by Georgian folk music, Songs of the Wanderers features breathtaking imagery, three tonnes of rice dyed saffron yellow, magnificent dancers and choreography, and above all, a joy that emanates from the soul of a sublime creation.
